Rough Cut- Miss Georgiou

Rough Cut

A rough cut is the first stage in which a film begins to resemble its final product however still needs to be edited and improved before the final product is released. A final cut is essential to carry out as it would give us a chance to undergo any changes that will make it even better according to other peoples feedback on our film.

We received audience feedback from our target audience through many different ways and each method of receiving feedback was an easy procedure. We carried out a questionnaire to find out what our target audience expect to see and what they would like to see in our opening thriller sequence to make it conventional and successful. This made our sequence better as it included everything our target audience wanted to see which was given to us in the questionnaire answers. We then uploaded our sequence onto Youtube for it to be open and this would mean more feedback would be given to us from many different people in order for us to improve on our rough cut to make it even better.

This feedback would benefit our production and the film industry as it would mean that we would know what to work on and improve which would make the sequence more successful and mean that the standards for the film industry would be raised as another successful thriller film would of been made. The feedback which would of led us to make our sequence even better would mean that the product would fit into the film industry more and would be more successful to sell and would be easier as well.

We received a variety of positive and constructive feedback and comments from people. Three constructive comments we got was; to make the flashback look more real and improve it by putting more effects on it, to make the font sizes all the same as some are bigger then others in different shots and to put an effect on the shot when the victim was looking at the wall of her photos. Putting effects on the different shots would make it look more scarier and conventional to the thriller genre which would interest and engage the target audience more and changing the size of the fonts to make it the same throughout all the shots would make it seem normal and the shots with the bigger shots would not engage the audience more which would make their concentration levels throughout all the shots the same. Three positive comments we got was; the introduction was very good and engaging to the audience, the sounds throughout the film was very conventional and the transition when the victim saw the killer was very good and ran smoothly making it more thrilling and enticing for the audience. All the positive comments given to us meant that the audience, according to their feedback, thought our thriller was very conventional to the genre and was very interesting and engaged them which means would lead to them watching the whole thing and the sequence becoming more successful.

The changes we will make to our thriller will consist of three small things. They are changing; the font sizes throughout the different frames to make them all the same size, adding more effects on the flashback to make it look more realistic and putting more effects on the frame when the victim is looking at the pictures on the wall. Making the flashbacks look more realistic by adding effect will engage the audience more into watching the rest of the film and will keep them on the edge building suspense, shock and surprise as it will be more thrilling and look more like a thriller film. Adding effects onto the frame when the victim was looking at all her personal photos targeted on the wall would make it more thrilling and engaging to the audience as it would make the wall look more scarier and not just look like a normal wall in as school where it was actually filmed. If we make these three changes to our opening thriller sequence it will make it even better than it is and more people would be wanting to watch it which would make the film more successful and more popular for people to want to watch all over the world.
